Dream Magazine Summer Kick-Off And Caley Camarillo Fundraiser

When I heard that on-line teen favorite, Dream Magazine was having the ultimate GG (girlie-girl) event featuring a "crazy cute" GG fashion show-I thought it couldn't get better!

But it did get better! Not only were so many of my favorite young actors and singers walking the red carpet (including moi with Ashley Argota!) BUT the event included a raffle to benefit an inspirational young girl, 10 year old Caley Camarillo, who continues her battle against Cystic Fibrosis.  See her video below:

The event was held Sunday afternoon at The Painted Nail, in Sherman Oaks, California (the ultimate in a pampering GG nail salon and available for private parties!)

Victoria Strauss-(sister of actress, Sophia) will start training for ASPCA marathon to take place October 30 at LA LIVE.  Her goal is to raise $2,200!

Best Friends Super Pet Adoption in LA

Best Friends' Candi Crawford, Events Specialist was in charge of this amazingly well run event.

Wow! I can't believe there were over 1000 pets available for adoption at the 2 day event held at the famous La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.  Over 400 pets found homes!

What to Do about a Pug Going Gray?

There are two things that a girl/pug does not like to talk about: her age and going gray.

I can deal with my age (in human years I'm in my 40's).  But, going gray in Tinsel Town is a canine starlet's worst nightmare!

However, after quite a bit of on-line research, Mom found out that many pugs start getting gray fur as early as 16 months old!  Okay, I did feel a bit better when I found that out.

Its also worth mentioning that both fawn color and black pugs get those "nasty grays" most often under the chin, on their tummies and most embarrassing of all (in the region of their private parts).

Yes, I understand that it can look "distinguished", but honestly, as a girlie-girl fashion forward canine, I'm not going for that look.

I really try to avoid closeups-under the chin is the most common area

I've been noticing a lot more around my "muzzle" (really don't like that word)

And under my tail (well, okay, not so noticeable)

I joined Mom at Naimie's Beauty Center in Studio City (celebs and makeup pros swear by this superstore of beauty supply essentials) and enlisted the help of popular staff member, Henry.

Henry suggested a mascara wand that covers gray and is non-toxic-I'm not yet convinced.

Rock'n'Roll Fantasy Camp Welcomes Pug!

Its not often that a pug gets to hang out with legendary hard rock musicians-but a pug living in Los Angeles does have more of these opportunities than most.

At last week's Hollywood *Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp (also a VHI reality series), the hard rockin "Rock Star Counselors" took time out from band rehearsals to show their "soft side" for a canine.

The "campers" (traveling from as far away as England) spent all week rehearsing, writing songs and finally performing in front of cheering friends and fans at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. There was even a wedding on stage (but more of that later!)

These guys may look like "bad boys" but they are "do gooders"- ready to help out a fellow musician or a worthy cause.

I do consider myself a Renaissance Pug-fashionista, canine lifestyle maven, foodie (of course) and book lover.

Yes, although, I am unfortunately not able to "read", I do enjoy curling up "on top of" a good book while my Mom is trying to read (and I need to have her attention).

This is an endearing habit that I picked up from a neighbor's cat. I also like to kick up a lot of dirt to bury my little turd blossoms in the garden.

But, back to the point of this post. I had the extreme honor of attending the recent lecture by Wayne Pacelle, CEO of the Humane Society at the Festival of Books at USC.

Wayne was talking about his new fascinating book, "The Bond" which delves into the deeply satisfying relationships between humans and animals.
