Humane Society 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards

It was a star studded fabulous event held by the Humane Society to honor and celebrate animals and the media.  Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) received the prestigious Wyler Award for her efforts on behalf of orphaned African elephants (victims of the ivory tusk hunters) and celebrity presenters honored nominees and winners of awards- Genesis Award Winners

I can't miss an opportunity to walk the red carpet (or at least be close to it) and the chance to show off a new outfit!

Beautiful people, beautiful food (Chefs Tal Ronnen and Manfred Lassahn created a spectacular Vegan dinner) and most importantly, a wonderful cause.

 I had dreams about the mushroom ravioli.....

“Me-First’ Society Has People Choosing Senior Dogs over Kids

I can't honestly say that this surprises me, but a recent study found that more young adults would rather adopt an older dog instead of a younger puppy – or surprisingly, in place of having kids.


Now, I don't consider myself "older", but I guess to humans, since I am 6 years old (a girl really doesn't like to tell her age) I am no longer a pupster.


Well, the article is quite interesting and I do approve of the model selected (yours truly).


What do you think?  Would you consider adopting a senior pet?  There are so many waiting for loving homes. 


By the way, I don't think the camera angle is very flattering-I've actually lost weight recently.

St. Pawtrick's Day at Los Angeles Animal Shelters

This is Tater-he was "dropped off" at the shelter by his owner a few weeks ago.

He really enjoyed his kissing job -pictured here with new friend, Madison.

Tater is about 4 years old (and part Pug).  Who could resist that smile?

On Saturday, LA Animal Services held St. Pawtrick's Day: A "Green" Adoption Event, presented in association with Ruff Patches, from 10AM to 5PM at all six LA City Animal Care Centers.

The event featured: Discounted adoption fees, “Kiss the Blarney Dog” kissing booth, matchmakers to help you find your fur-ever friend, eco-friendly pet products, refreshments, professional training advice, giveaways and much more.


 To be honest, I get more than a little nervous when I go to an animal shelter because I know that so many of my canine brothers and sisters are anxiously waiting and hoping to be adopted and it makes me very sad.

I also know how fortunate I am and that "doing good is just as important as looking good."

Your local animal shelter has wonderful dogs, cats, rabbits -waiting for a loving home.  Many shelters have on-line photos of pets for adoption.

Mom and I attend this event at the beautiful East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys.  PR, Rachel Weil always comes through for animal lovers and it was a great success.  Enjoy the photos.

LA Fashion Week

 The fashions were beautiful but I thought the rose petals on the floor were food (a little disappointing).

I usually have a pretty good body image- but after seeing all the super thin models (and guests) at LA Fashion Week, I am feeling that my aspiring career as a large and lovely plus size model, might have problems.

But, aside from that, its been a fantastic series of events-most of the shows are free and attract a fun, creative crowd.  The local designers (some well known and others beginning their careers) are innovative, fun, cool, glamorous, edgy-everything that makes this city unique.  The photographers were there to capture the fashion forward moments (I just happen to be in all of these photos).

“Los Angeles Woman Confesses to Abusive Relationship with Dog”

My Mom thought it would be a funny article when she wrote: “Los Angeles Woman Confesses to Abusive Relationship with Dog” for K9 Magazine www.dogmagazine.net.

We dogs do have a sense of humor- we smile, we grin and sometimes we smile and pant (that's us laughing).  But, to be honest, I didn't find this story funny.  

I know that some canines if given too much freedom (and inconsistent discipline) will take over your house (especially your bed).  Its important in any relationship to have boundaries and if your human/canine relationship is somewhat unbalanced, I would suggest getting help from an expert (a pet therapist or trainer).

Well, with that said, I am now going to get in my (and Mom's) bed and spread myself out on all the pillows......

How to Recognize Dog Obesity

You think I'm fat??

Well, this is a particularly sensitive subject for me, as I'm sure it is with many of my amigos.

Dr. Becker, a well know vet, in an exclusive interview with DogTipper (one of my former "favorite" blogs) has issued the statement "They will dig their grave with their food bowl"- scare tactics that its been proven do nothing but cause additional stress and make us want to eat more.

His tips for recognizing if a pooch is a little pudgy is:
a) Feel their ribs (ha! try to find mine, is more like it)
b) there should be an indentation at their waist (an hour glass shape) and therefore I suppose a pronounced pouch would not be ideal.

Okay, Dr. Becker, I barked off to your other remark, "All dogs love to walk."

Sorry, Dr. Becker, nobody walks in LA.
